Email Notifications

Email notifications are sent out completely automatically for a variety of purposes.
All emails are sent from a @andrewblankenship.dev email address.

There are currently 8 emails that are sent:

Confirm Email

Sent: On Demand

When an account is created an email is sent out asking them to confirm their email addresses.

Reset Password

Sent: On Demand

If a user ever requests to reset a password, then they will be sent a password reset email.

Lesson Complete

Sent: On Demand

Whenever a lesson has been completed, a user will receive an email giving them a copy of all the questions and the answers that they entered.

Missing Files

Sent: Nightly @ 00:00 CST if Errors Exist

In different lessons and sections, files are referenced as images and additional documents. Because there are multiple people working on the server, it is very easy to move or rename a file while it is still referenced. In order to prevent this from breaking current lessons, a check happens nightly that looks at all of the currently referenced documents and images. If a document or image is moved, then it will send an email (currently hardcoded) to Jeffrey Albertson.

There are 3 types of missing files:

  • Files missing in the lessons themselves
  • Files missing from the course directly such as the banner images, course appendix, or bibliography
  • Files missing from the Author profile pictures

The email will tell you the file missing, where it is found, and provide a link to update the missing file accordingly.

File Upload Failure

Sent: On Demand

If there is an issue uploading a html file for the automated course wizard, then this will send an email automatically with the error as well as the uploaded file. This email is currently sent to the setting “Failed Html Upload Contact Email(s)” configurable within the admin site under settings.

Orphaned Sections

Sent: Nightly @ 00:00 CST if Errors Exist

Occasionally it is possible when modifying/deleting sections to end up with orphaned sections. When this occurs, Andrew Blankenship will receive an email with instructions on how to handle it. This is here purely for informational sake.

Course Notification Verification Emails

Sent: On Demand

Sent to verify email for individuals wishing to receive notifications when a new course is released in a specific language

New Course Notification

Sent: Daily @ 12:00 CST if new courses flagged

Sent to alert individual of new courses that exist on the SGC Website. See New Course Notifications for more details
